There are always huge rumours flying around the internet especially around the video game industry. Whether or not they should be believed or not is another issue but until they are confirmed or denied they make for some interesting reading. Here's a rundown of some rumours that have sprung up lately:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to Have 3rd Person Perspective?: This rumour surfaced yesterday as some footage was leaked online from some people who have managed to get a hold of an advanced copy. The video shows someone playing COD with the camera following them. It was said that the mode was available in multiplayer and looked rather authentic. Since then Infinity Ward have indeed confirmed that the new game will feature some 3rd person action. The new perspective, for the series, is available only in certain private online matches, the leaked video shows 3rd Person Team Deathmatch and Cage Match 3rd Person, and can be toggled on or off similar to the 'Hardcore' settings. So this rumour has turned out to be true and according to Infinity Ward's press release on Joystiq some form of real trailer will surface soon detailing the 3rd person perspective. Personally I think I'll stick to first person as I feel it gives the action more immediacy and greater realism but it is nice to know I have a choice.
New James Bond Game Titled 'GoldenEye 2010': Anyone who knows anything about gaming remembers Rare's GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64. It is regarded as the father of first person shooters on the console and one of the best games ever made. It seems that the old favourite is getting a second shot, of sorts.
A resume has appeared online from an animator called Craig Peck who was employed by Eurocom a UK based studio. In his resume he says that the studio is working on a title called "GoldenEye 2010" for the Nintendo Wii.The fact that a James Bond game is being developed by Activision, who are linked to Eurocom, is already known as CEO Mike Griffin confirmed earlier year that a title was being made gave out no details. The rumours are now flying around whether it will be a remake of Rare's GoldenEye or whether it is attempting to cash in on the GoldenEye similarly to what EA tried when they released 'GoldenEye: Rogue Agent'. Comments from Rare make the possibility of a GoldenEye remake unlikely as they have stated that, that time has passed. On the other hand EA's use of the GoldenEye title did not breed success, it was a critical and commercial failure, so it seems strange Activision would now try to cash in on the brands status. Either way this is still definetley a rumour but from a fan point of view I'd like to see a next gen remake of GoldenEye because there hasn't been a decent James Bond game since.
New Nintendo DSi: The DS brand has sold over 100 million units worldwide but that's not enough for the people over at Nintendo whose goal is to reach a point where every person owns a DS or in other words world domination. To achieve this the Japanese newpaper Nikkei is reporting that the company is gearing up to release another version of its popular DSi.
The model will feature a 4" screen which is three quarters of an inch bigger than the existing DSi and that is all that's been leaked so far. The new DSi will supposedly retail for the same price as the existing DSi and supposedly the reasoning behind the new DSi is not to offer players a better gaming experience through a larger screen but to attract older gamers, ie your grandparents, who are adept at using phones with large numbers and reading clocks with larger than normal numbers. The new design will supposedly launch in Japan this year with a worldwide release still under discussion over at Nintendo. This rumour seems real given the fact that it was released in the Nikkei newspaper a somewhat respectable publication and the fact that it follows a similar release schedule to the original DSi, teased then confirmed for a Japanese release before going international. Anyway it will be interesting to see if it is actually meant purely for older people, because that may result in some sort of added magnification of the image to make it easier to view, or if it will be a proportional increase like buying a bigger TV which may appeal to regular gamers as well as older gamers.

I'm interested by the upgrade one building in your Stronghold achievement. What role exactly will your Stronghold play in the game and how will upgrading affect your gameplay ie new weapons, armour, gadgets (the logical assumption)? I also look forward to completing the Macho Man and Messer Sandman achievements just for a bit of fun. Overall it looks like the world of Assassin's Creed II, according to this unconfirmed list of achievements, will provide lots more for your character to do like buy paintings, upgrade your Stronghold and colour your outfit. Once again this is an unconfirmed list of achievements but unless an actual list or this one is confirmed by Ubisoft before November 19 then this list could be legit and on the money.
