Crytek CryENGINE 3 Demo

The future of video game development is here and it's Crytek's CryENGINE 3. The engine, which has obviously been developed by Germany studio Crytek and hence the name, is able to be used for the development of PlayStation 3, XBox 360 and PC games. The engine offers real-time development, that means you see an in game visual of what you are playing around with in the code and allows the changes between a 360, PS3 and PC to be completed quicker and easier.

I'll be honest and say that this is probably the very first tech demo I have ever watched but I must say that now I'll have to keep an eye out for any new tech demos. The stuff that Crytek are showing in this trailer are amazing and have left me very impressed. The character and level designs look fantastic, engines are getting more real every time, and the level of destruction the trailer shows is just mind blowing. That huge explosion at the end, so cool! Obviously things always look rather nice in a tech demo so it will be interesting to see how some actual games look with the new engine. The CryENGINE 3 is going to power Crysis 2 but sadly that game is yet to see a confirmed release date so it's hard to say whether that will be our first look at the engine in a game. I hope it is because if anyone is going to do it justice on it's first time out it will be Crytek. Anyway sit back and enjoy this beautiful, albeit geeky trailer.
